Well I am officially THAT GUY. If you look back at my blogging history, you will see the last blog post I made was in January of 2018. Ironically, it was a New Year’s Resolution blog where I proclaimed my commitment to writing more. Technically, I did do that. I wrote an 82 page book that is my master’s thesis, so I did a LOT more writing in 2018. Just not in the way I wanted to. Better late (like over a year…) than never, right?
I feel terribly that I did not give Jennifer and Andy their due diligence because they closed out my 2018 in the best way. Jen reached out to me last year about her wedding. We knew each other from college and I couldn’t be happier with how this has come full circle for us. This engagement shoot was really us joking around about our mutual friends from college, the first time I got drunk on Bourbon Street in New Orleans (…I mean…had some good, clean, fun in my hotel room and got to bed at a reasonable hour as a college freshman….), and catching up in general.
Jennifer and Andy are that couple that you watch interact with each other and you think they have been married for years. Their inside jokes, the way they interact, the way they just know each other. It’s the kind of thing you just love to watch. Plus, their son is SO PRECIOUS!!! I will admit I was a little anxious to do an engagement shoot with a couple and a child. While I’ve worked with kids professionally, I haven’t really had a lot of experience photographing them. But he was a trooper and we had a lot of fun!
You’d be amazed at the little places in Louisiana you can find to do a shoot. Our two locations were on a frontage road right off the interstate 20 minutes outside of Lake Charles and the first registered bridge in the State of Louisiana. I have driven between Lafayette and Lake Charles on I-10 hundreds of times, but never gave much thought to the rural areas in between. Like I said…you’d be amazed.
Cheers to Jennifer and Andy! I can’t wait to get these bridals done and I am very much looking forward to your wedding!
